Reel Hope Celebrates Tamlin Hall’s Appointment as Director of UGA’s MFA Film, Television & Digital Media Program
It is with much pride and admiration that Reel Hope honors our own Tamlin Hall on his appointment as the new Director of the Master of Fine Arts in Film, Television & Digital Media at the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication.
This milestone — announced by UGA on December 17, 2025 — marks a remarkable next chapter in a career defined by creativity, leadership, and storytelling with purpose.
From Storyteller to Educator
Tamlin Hall is no stranger to excellence in film and television. An Emmy Award-winning filmmaker, acclaimed producer, writer, and educator, his work has consistently centered on social impact, meaningful narrative, and championing under-represented voices.
Through his nonprofit Connected Content and its fiscal sponsorship arm Reel Hope, he has supported over a dozen narrative and documentary projects that uplift community, culture, and conscience. Notable works include the Emmy®-winning PBS series Hope Givers, his award winnng film Holden On, and fiscally sponsored film The Tropic Sun and His Eyes — a project born in Haiti that reflects global storytelling at its best.
In his new role, Tamlin steps into leadership of one of the the Goergia’s most forward-looking film programs — a curriculum designed to train tomorrow’s directors, producers, and storytellers. He brings not only professional pedigree, but a deep investment in mentorship, community, and the next generation of creative voices.
Tamlin has served as a mentor in UGA’s low-residency MFA screenwriting track, and now will shape the full graduate experience for aspiring filmmakers beginning with the 2026 cohort.
In accepting this esteemed position, Tamlin shared his commitment to foster local Georgia talent, attract visionary creators from across the country, and build a collaborative, diverse, and ambitious creative hub that stands among the very best in film education.
His role at UGA is not just a personal achievement — it’s an extension of Reel Hope’s mission: promoting storytelling that matters. Under his leadership, we anticipate even stronger pipelines for socially conscious filmmakers and storytellers to flourish.
